Problems and precautions / A question brief

Where can I take a concern in Texas?

Match the concern to the person or business involved. Save the label, receipt, and messages so the details are easy to explain.

What if the concern is about care?

Complaints about a Texas doctor or physician assistant go to the Texas Medical Board.

The board accepts online complaints, but you must identify yourself. It keeps your identity private. The stated exception is for complaints made by insurance companies or drug companies.

For a complaint about a nurse or nurse practitioner, contact the Texas Board of Nursing. It does not tell the nurse who made the complaint.

What if it is about the pharmacy or the bill?

The Texas State Board of Pharmacy takes written complaints about Texas-licensed pharmacies and pharmacy professionals.

The pharmacy board does not handle disagreements about prices or bills. You must give your name when you complain.

For misleading ads, scams, or refund and billing problems, the Texas Attorney General has a consumer complaint route.

Consumer complaints to the Attorney General are public, under the Texas rule checked in September 2026. Leave out private details such as account numbers or government identification numbers.

Can I report a problem with a medicine?

MedWatch is a free way for patients to send medicine reports to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A report lets FDA know about a possible problem. That report does not establish the medicine as the cause.

Write down the medicine name, what happened, and when. Keep the packaging or label information with those notes.
